Dear Family in
the Two Hearts:
In the Magníficat, the Blessed Mother told us: “his Mercy is for
those who fear him from generation to generation” (Luke 1, 50).
Every age, every generation has to respond to God, to his salvific
action, they have to be able to embrace redemption, and battle with
the evils of its time, in order to respond to the specific needs of
their particular historic moment. In every generation, it is man’s
responsibility to be able to read the signs of the times, to
discover God’s voice and action, and respond with obedience to the
movements of the Holy Spirit, in order to bring forth the gift of
His Divine Mercy.
Our generation
has had the privilege of receiving so many, many graces. In such a
difficult historic time like ours, and in the midst of so much
darkness, the Lord has sent rays of mercy and grace to enlighten the
path of humanity. For that very reason, precisely, during one of the
darkest times of the 20th century (in the middle of the two World
Wars), God chose Saint Faustina Kowalka, a polish religious of the
Congregation of Sisters of our Lady of Mercy for a great mission of
mercy: “You are the secretary of My Mercy; I have chosen you for
this task during this time and for the next life”.
During the
Canonization of Saint Faustina, His Holiness John Paul II, said:
“this is not a new message, but it can be considered a special gift
of enlightenment…. to be able to offer it as a ray of light to men
and women of our times”.
The Heart of Jesus has an ardent desire to give His message of Mercy
to the entire world! He, Himself told Saint Faustina: “My dear
daughter, speak to the whole world about my unfathomable Mercy.”
“Before coming as a Just Judge, I first come as the King of Mercy”.
In the state of our current world situation, the Lord has wanted to
remind us of his infinite Mercy, which becomes more accessible, the
more we need it. “Human misery is not an obstacle to My mercy. My
daughter, write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater
its right to My mercy: urge all souls to trust in the unfathomable
abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. (D.1182) God’s
Mercy can be described as God’s loving answer to our misery. God's
heart , who comes to seek and to rescue his weak creatures.
Sin is the
greatest misery of men. The human heart is capable of misery because
is capable of sin, of breaking his communion of love with the Heart
of the Father. God rejects sin, but loves the sinner… loves him to
the point of giving his own life to save him from sin and
destruction. God loves his children… and sees their miseries. When
His loving Heart reaches the misery of men, this particular love
becomes Mercy. The love with which God touches the sinner’s misery
is called Mercy. Saint Francis of Sales, tells us: “Even if God
would not have created men, He would have always been the perfect
charity, but in reality, He would not have been merciful, because
Mercy can only be practiced over misery... Our misery is the throne
of God’s Mercy”.
No one deserves
God’s Divine Mercy, it is a free gift…. An unfathomable gift,
accessible to all mankind. “My daughter, on the cross, the fountain
of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls, no own have
I excluded! (D. 1182)
Jesus told Saint Faustina: “Look and see the human race in its
present condition” (D. 445). “I am giving mankind the last hope of
salvation; that is, recourse to My mercy” (D.998). ¿How do we
embrace this grace of Divine Mercy for our times? Jesus revealed 5
different ways we can accomplish this:
1. The
veneration of the image of the Merciful Jesus, just the way it was
revealed to Saint Faustina: “I promise that the soul who would
venerate this image, will never perish. I also promise victory over
their enemies here on earth, but especially at the hour of their
death”.
2. The Feast of
the Divine Mercy: the first Sunday after Easter. “I desire that this
Feast be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor
sinners. On this day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I
pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the
fountain of My mercy. The soul who has gone to Holy Confession and
worthily received Holy Communion, will obtain total forgiveness of
its faults”.
3. The Chaplet
and the Novena: “Oh, what greatest graces I will give to the souls
who pray this chaplet and the novena; the very depths of My mercy
are moved by those who pray it”.
4. The Hour of
Mercy: “At three o’clock sharp, implore My mercy, especially for
sinners. This is the hour of the greatest mercy for the entire
world. I would not refuse anything to a soul who asks me for
something, in virtue of My passion.”
5. Give the
Mercy we have received: “My daughter, you should be the first one to
distinguish yourself by this confidence in My mercy. I demand from
your deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are
to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere.”
With total trust, let us enter deeply into the Heart of Jesus, the
visible sign of the Father's mercy. Let us throw ourselves with
trust into the Ocean of Infinite Mercy: the Pierced Heart of Jesus.
In the love of the Pierced Hearts,
Mother Adela
