Dear Brothers and Sisters:

May Divine Mercy cover us so that we may become channels of mercy toward others!

In just a few hours, we will be leaving on our first pilgrimage of this Jubilee Year. One hundred pilgrims from different parts of Latin America and Miami are joining us. The main focus of our pilgrimage is to visit the two greatest places for pilgrimages during this Holy Year, which are Rome and the Holy Land. Also, we will be taking part in two moments of extraordinary grace for the Church, the Canonization of the Blessed Sister Faustina and the Beatification of the visionary shepherds of Fatima, Jacinta and Francisco.

We begin our pilgrimage with the Canonization of the one who was called to be the Apostle of the Divine Heart of Christ, and we conclude it with the Beatification of the children, apostles of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In a particular way, the Two Hearts are revealed during this Jubilee Year and in our own pilgrimage, which just a year ago we named: “A New Heart for Humanity.”

The name of the pilgrimage was chosen long before we even knew of both ceremonies. What a great confirmation of this name from the Lord!  We go, as pilgrims, with the intention of acquiring a new heart, and the Lord has revealed to us His Heart and the Heart of His Mother. Since the beginning, the Lord showed us the spirit we should undertake as we embark on this pilgrimage, and He did it through the Sacred Scriptures in Ezekiel, Chapter 36:25-26.

"I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."

It is very significant that the Lord tells us in His word: "I will sprinkle clean water upon you,”       and "a new heart I will give you, I will remove your heart of stone.” Isn’t Jesus in the image of His Divine Mercy sprinkling us with His blood and His water? Aren’t the visionary children of Fatima models of ardent charity, which can only be born from new hearts?

Brothers and Sisters, during the next couple of weeks, not only us the pilgrims, but all of you as well, will be receiving abundant and plentiful graces. Let us open our hearts to the profound conversion which the Lord wants to make inside of us, which will prepare us to acquire a new heart, with new feelings, new ways of thinking, new ways of looking at life, with new values and with new desires. Everything is new when our hearts are renewed and healed, when we remove our stones of selfishness, our hardheartedness, personal interest, pride, avarice, envy, gluttony, anger, rage, and we are given new hearts of flesh: soft, gentle, meek, docile, charitable, merciful, peaceful, self-sacrificing, self-forgetful, and kind.

How much do we need a new heart! It is precisely during this Jubilee Year - a year of grace and mercy, of freedom from our sins, of reconciliation and conversion - that our goal must be to acquire a new heart so we can have a new life.

I ask all of you that on April 30th, the day of Mercy and of the Canonization of Blessed Faustina Kowalska, you will pray to the Lord to give us the grace to be sprinkled with His Blood and with His Water so that we can all be purified. Let us beg the Lord that His Mercy may be poured out upon all of humanity.

I would also like to ask you that on May 13th to direct your gaze toward those two shepherd children, who in their simplicity and innocence, profoundly understood the value of the Eucharist. They knew that the sure way to Christ was through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and they were aware of the danger of souls who were living in sin. Therefore, they offered their lives as offerings of reparation and consolation to the Eucharistic Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the salvation of souls.

How many models the Holy Spirit presents us with!  Let us have the love and courage to contemplate them so that we can imitate them!

May the Two Hearts Reign!!
