Short Biography
By: Sr. Ana Margarita Lanzas, SCTJM
Mother Adela Galindo was born in Leon, Nicaragua. Her childhood was marked by a profound Marian spirituality which has become more obvious and tangible as the years have passed. She considers the gift of the Blessed Mother's maternity in her life to be the most beautiful gift the Lord has given her from her childhood until the present. "My path is Marian...everything in my life has been a gift of Our Lady's Heart. My desire is to live and to die in the School of Mary's Heart".
During her youth, she became actively involved in the Charismatic Renewal, experiencing in a renewed manner the powerful effects of the union of two currents of spirituality, Marian and charismatic, which led her to a deep love for the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Mother Adela defines her life as based upon four pillars: profoundly Marian, Eucharistic centered, actively receiving and communicating the gifts of the Holy Spirit and in loving communion with the Heart of the Church and at her service.
In 1984, in response to her constant relationship with Mary, she made a total consecration of herself to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Mother. This consecration introduced her into a new phase in her spiritual life: to contemplate more profoundly the love of the Pierced Heart of Christ. The Maternal Heart of Our Lady has always been the channel by which she has received all the graces that the Heart of Jesus has poured out upon her life. One year later, as a fruit of her Marian consecration, she felt the call to give her entire life to the Lord, which she did, recognizing that this “fiat” was necessary to prepare herself to embrace the designs of love that the Heart of Jesus and Mary had for her. Unbeknownst to her then, this small seed would be the beginning of a new religious family at the service of the Church of the Third Millennium.
In 1990, she founded the Religious Institute “Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary” in the Archdiocese of Miami, Florida. The Sisters profess a Fourth Vow: “Total Marian Availability”.
The spiritual charism of the Institute is to be a living image and presence of the Heart of Mary in the Heart of the Church and in the heart of the world, and to place their Marian charism and the potentialities of their feminine genius in full communion and at the service of the Petrine Principle. The Sisters make of their lives a total and sincere gift, an offering of love and consolation to the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary by choosing in all things the splendor, the logic and fecundity of love to give way to its triumph.
With great apostolic ardor and desire to enflame the world with the love of the Pierced Hearts, the Sisters are totally dedicated to the mission of evangelization and formation, forming hearts in the splendor of the Magisterium and treasures of the Church, to be living witnesses of the power and fecundity of love. From the very beginnings of its foundation, the Institute has been actively serving Blessed John Paul II's call to the New Evangelization. In their apostolic mission, they manifest the "All embracing motherhood of Our Lady and of the Church", serving in all areas of the life of the Church, having a multiform apostolic mission of evangelization and formation: Directors of catechesis, religious education in schools, formation courses, conferences, congresses, retreats, evangelization through the media, pastoral missions at parochial and diocesan levels, youth and children's ministry, university pastoral ministry, pastoral care of the sick, prayer groups, Eucharistic cenacles, conferences for priests and seminarians, pilgrimages, diocesan commissions, formation and missions for the promotion of the dignity of the human person, etc... All their Marian apostolic activity is born from a deep Eucharistic centered life and from a formation deeply rooted in the Magisterium of the Church, with a particular mission to keep alive and transmit the legacy of Blessed John Paul II.
Mother Adela has dedicated her life to the arduous task of forming the hearts of men, women, youth and children to be witnesses of love, faith, truth and hope, and to prepare them to build a new civilization worthy to be a home of the human heart. This particular mission requires her to “go out into the deep” in the oceans of humanity in our times and to "go across the mountains" with promptitude and humility, like Our Lady, to bring Christ into many hearts. From this mission, the Family of the Pierced Hearts was born, which consists of priests, deacons, seminarians and lay faithful who embrace the spiritual charism and apostolic mission of the Sisters.
If we had to sum up Mother Adela's motto of life will be: "choosing in all things, like Our Lady, what is true, good, beautiful and fruitful to open the path for the triumph of love, the triumph of the Pierced Hearts!"
All for the Heart of Jesus through the Heart of Mary!
