St. Mark was an evangelist who wrote the second Gospel in Rome around the year 60. His gospel shows the life of Christ through the eyes of the Apostles. The house of his mother was a meeting place for Christians in Jerusalem. He accompanied St. Paul and St. Barnabas on their journey through Cyprus, but soon after continued the journey with only St. Barnabas. He also went to Rome with St. Peter and St. Paul and is known to have founded the Church in Alexandria.
