CHAPLET IN
HONOR OF ALL HOLY DEACONS
In the Name of the Father, and
of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Father . . .
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle! Protect
us from all the wiles and snares of the devil! May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray, and do you , O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the
power of God cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who
prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls.
Seven times repeat the following prayers:
Hail Mary . . .
“Behold the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to
your word.” (Luke 1:38)
“The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His
life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
“I am in your midst as the one who serves.” (Luke 22:27)
“I shall no longer call you servants, because a servant does not
know the master’s business; I call you friends, because I have made
known to you everything I have learnt from my Father.” (John 15:15)
“He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave.” (Phil 2:7)
“Let the one who serves do so with the strength that God provides.”
(1 Pet 4:11)
“Alleluia! Praise the name of the Lord, you who serve the Lord,
praise Him, who serve in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the
house of our God!” (Psalm 135:1-2)
At the end of each group of seven, pray one of the following
ejaculations:
First: St. Stephen, First Deacon and Protomartyr, pray for us!
Second: St. Philip the Deacon, pray for us!
Third: St. Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, pray for us!
Fourth: St. Vincent, Deacon and Martyr, pray for us!
Fifth: St. Ephrem, Deacon and Doctor of the Church, pray for us!
Sixth: St. Romanos the Melodist, pray for us!
Seventh: St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!
CLOSING PRAYER
Mother of God and Queen of Heaven, you were the first to serve the
mystery of the Incarnation, by offering your entire being to the
Lord. Your consecration immediately bore fruit in service to your
neighbor, in your Visitation to Elizabeth. Pray for us, that we too
may dedicate our entire lives to serving the Lord, and, for love of
Jesus, our neighbors. As the angels serve the Lord with joy for all
eternity, may it be our everlasting joy to praise Him and do His
will. Through your prayers and those of all the holy deacons, may we
come to hear the heavenly welcome: “Well done, my good and faithful
servant! Enter into the joy of your Lord!” Amen!
