“It is
appropriate in our times, to profoundly understand and
have a greater conscience of the intimate relationship
that exists between the Two Hearts, and of the immense
value that an authentic devotion and consecration to the
Hearts of Jesus and Mary have in our lives.”
(Pope John Paul II, November 23, 1987)
Oh Lord, before your Eucharistic Heart, we come today, just
as Saint John the Apostle once did, to offer to you this
child, through and within the Immaculate Heart of your
Mother.
Oh, Immaculate Heart of Mary, sure refuge for all who trust
in you; to you we consecrate today this baby, entrusted to
his loving parents by God the Father.
Oh Mother of the Word Incarnate, you who are aware that the
dangers facing children today are ever increasing, we place
in your hands the growth, the well-being and the future of
this baby.
Mother of Love,
receive once again into your arms this
child, just at you received Jesus. Envelope him in the cloth
of purity, of innocence, and of obedience, and place him in
the manger of this family, uniting them in bonds of mutual
love, sacrifice, generosity, fidelity and joy.
Mother of Wisdom, you who so lovingly taught the Son of God
Himself how to talk, to pray and to obey, guide this child
through the loving hands of his parents, into a true
understanding of faith, of hope and of wisdom. Keep him ever
at your side, faithfully leading him into the fullness of
God’s will for him.
Mother most Powerful,
you who did lead the Child Jesus into
Egypt, away from the dangers facing Him, protect and defend
this child from the world, from the enemy and from sin, keep
him safe from all danger, physical and spiritual.
By the union of the Immaculate Heart of Mary with the Sacred
Heart of Jesus, and with the loving consent of his parents,
we pray that this baby, consecrated now to the Pierced Hearts,
may always live in peace, joy and fidelity to God, under
their protection, and in union with Saint Joseph. Amen.
