On Friday, December 7th, the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Orlando were asked to participate in Annunciation Catholic Academy's all-school Advent retreat. During the day, the students rotated by grade through different "stations" of events. The station that we were asked to serve in was the time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. What a blessing on the First Friday of the month!
The Media Center became a beautiful Chapel where Our Lord was exposed in the Blessed Sacrament all day. We led the students in prayer through songs of praise and worship and prayer in silence before Him. We also spoke with them about the meaning of Adoration, Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist, and the significance of the First Friday Devotion. To close each station, we prayed a short Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, explaining what it means to consecrate ourselves to Our Lady: that just as Jesus was Mary's child, so too do we desire to be her children, for she leads us always to the Heart of her Son.
It was beautiful to see the students' response and participation to this special time filled with the love of Our Eucharistic Lord and the Maternal Presence of Our Lady.
