Mother Adela, the
sisters, priests, lay members of the Family of the Pierced
Hearts, and Patricia Gibson (the Chancellor of the Diocese of
Peoria) gathered in the chapel at Nazareth House, the retreat
center for the Diocese of Peoria, one year after its
renaming. On the first night of the pilgrimage, the retreat
center was consecrated to the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary
during an hour of adoration and praise before the Blessed
Sacrament. Mother Adela, using a consecration she had written
for the occasion, prayed that "this retreat center...may be a
spiritual home for many hearts to experience the healing power
of God's love, the maternal presence of Our Lady's Heart, and
the splendor of the magisterial and
spiritual treasures of the heart of the Church."
A framed copy of the consecration now hangs at the entrance to
the chapel so that all who enter may
be aware of the graces they can receive through it.
Bishop Daniel Jenky,
CSC, of the diocese of Peoria presented to our Mother Foundress a
great gift and treasure.
He gave to the community a relic of the True Cross. Mother was
surprised and moved by such a beautiful gift.
